Browse Google News In Style With News Android App

I have always loved Google News but there has not been an easy way to browse Google News on Android.  I know you could use the mobile site but the experience of using the mobile site is not good.  There are also some very good news apps on android such as Pulse or Flipboard but they do not have Google’s sorting algorithm.  Luckily, there is a solution.  News transforms Google News into a stylish app which also caches the news for offline usage.

Reading news on the News app is functional and stylish.  On the top, the news categories are selected and the articles are listed below.  When you swipe your finger across the app, it takes you to a different category.  If your reading an article and you swipe your finger then you will be taken to another article in that category.  Each article tends to have a nicely displayed picture followed by text from the article.  The best thing about the app is that is very closely based on Google News.  You can chose the categories that you want to display.  In addition, there is a way to add custom topics.  For example, if you want to read more about Apple then you just type in Apple as a custom topic and the News app will show you news related to Apple.

One of the biggest drawbacks of the News app is that it does not show you the entire article.  It shows you only the first few hundred words.  If you want to read more of the article then you just press your finger anywhere on the article and it will take you to the original article.  This renders the app almost useless as you cannot view the entire article in the easy to read format that the News app provides.  I am sure this is an easy issue to fix and I really hope they include entire articles in their app.  It is still a really good app but it still needs some work.
